Year-round events keep the Charleston area buzzing. Music and tempting aromas fill the air. Witness world-renowned performances at Spoleto, get a taste of our heritage at small town oyster roasts or discover the find of a lifetime at an antique show. With so many events taking place, you'd better mark your calendar now.
Celebrate the holiday season with a special candlelight tour of the Edmondston-Alston House, one of the first dwellings built on Charleston’s High Battery. The Christmas 1860 Candlelight Tours will be offered on Friday, December 5 and 12 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and will feature costumed interpreters.
The historic Edmondston-Alston House will be dressed for the holidays much as it would have been in the 1860s. Living historians in period clothing will tell the story of Charleston’s last opulent Christmas before the start of the Civil War, and will share the different Christmas traditions of the day.
Tickets are $20 and may by purchased the night of the event. Advance tickets are available at the Edmondston-Alston House for $15. Group rates are available.
